The first recorded licensee was Samuel Hey (from 1747-1751). The exterior features an elaborate relief panel > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6493735 made from cement, depicting St Stephens Gate, based on an illustration by Ninham dated 1792. Like all other pubs in the country, the Coachmakers Arms is currently closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown.
