Rookes Hall (SE141264) is named after a family that lived here in 1187. The present house was built by John Whitley in 1638. It has a two-storey porch with an odd double-arch and flanking columns between floors; also a sundial that can just be seen on the photo. The house has been restored and altered during the 20C.
