An independent school for girls aged 11 to 18, the Mary Erskine School is linked to Stewart's Melville College. It was founded in 1694, and moved to Ravelston in 1966. The 1960s concrete-and-glass of the new buildings sits ill with the Georgian Ravelston House which they partly obscure.
