Photo taken just a few days before the withdrawal of passenger services. The single coach was shorter than standard because of the curvature of the line, and was an ex LNER coach which replaced a superannuated coach from the former Barry Railway towards the end of passenger services on the branch. The loco is 1450, one of the 14xx 0-4-2 tank engines designed by the Great Western Railway for branch line work. It survives in preservation http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4455574
