This notice stands on the boundary of Newbiggin-By-The-Sea Golf Course and applies to the area of land known as Newbiggin Moor. The freeholders have existed in Newbiggin-By-The-Sea since around 1235, following a charter granted by King John. They own Newbiggin Moor and the title allows them the ancient right to graze sheep and cattle, although these days it is more of a status symbol.
