Prescot War Memorial

Prescot War Memorial, erected on the 9th September 1916, was the first civic war memorial to be erected in the UK, according to Imperial War Museum records. It was commissioned and paid for by Councillor William John Lucas, it was sculpted in Aberdeen granite and features a soldier in the uniform of the South Lancashire Regiment. It was originally located at the junction of West Street and Church Street.
