The railtour made possibly a last visit to this line by a passenger train. Passenger services ceased in 1957, and the freight service later in 1963. The station buildings survive as offices to local industrial development. The station was some 2km distant from the town of Malpas, at Hampton Heath, so would never have been an attractive proposition to inhabitants.
