Mine spoil dumps, near Gunnislake

These dumps are spoil from the former copper mine, Bedford United, situated above the east bank of the Tamar on the Devon side of the river. Vegetation has failed to take full hold in this 1978 photo probably because of the arsenic content of the crushed or burnt ore residues.
