Hot Food Kitchens is the only independent trader operating in the Clarendon Square Shopping Centre during the coronavirus pandemic. When I took this photograph the spaced-out queue was as long behind as it was in front. Sometimes referred to by locals as Oven King (its former name) the shop quite normally has long queues of customers as they are popular purveyors of pies, chickens, cooked meat, sandwiches and pastries. Before these times of social distancing the queues were then closely-packed. The only other shops still open in the mall are Holland & Barret, C&C News, Superdrug, One Below, B&M and Fultons. The indoor market, independent stalls, Greggs, Pound Bakery, Argos, charity shops and others are all closed.
