Looking from its northern end, on Columbia Road, where it is one of the original north-south roads and contains mixed housing. Towards the southern end it swings round in a broad curve to become part of the 1970s Slades Farm council estate. The sign is a modern one, from 2010-15 when this more modern, abstract emblem rather than the traditional town coat of arms as the working logo of the council. It is set some distance from the junction (behind us) because of the unfenced forecourt of the corner shop (a recently closed Coral bookmaker's).
