In defiance of the modern trend of shutting down pubs, this is a rare example of a new-build pub. The site was previously allotments and unused land. It opened in 2013, but is closed at the present due to the Covid-19 lockdown. The name derives from the location - just down the way was the large engineering factory that made bus chassis, known as Bristol Commercial Vehicles. The Bristol name was synonymous with buses and design evolution brought many important breakthroughs. One was the advance of producing a transmission that was far lower than the contemporary types and so a Low Decker (Lodekka) bus was created - hence the pub's use of it.
