A lorry from the Scottish Blood Transfusion Service, parked outside Milngavie Town Hall. They were running an afternoon session there for volunteers to donate blood. Because of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, from April 8th onwards, all blood donations across Scotland will be by appointment only, booked in advance online. This helps the Blood Transfusion Service regulate blood stocks to better meet the needs of Scotland’s patients. When someone books an appointment, they know hospitals can rely on the person's blood type on that date, ensuring there will always be enough for patients when needed. Giving blood by appointment will also assist with current social distancing measures, as it will reduce queuing.
