Back in the 1980s this company was not on the grid and generated its own electricity with diesels and a high-speed steam engine that had replaced a broken uniflow in the 1950s. These little and large Weir feed pumps were alongside a very large Lancashire boiler that provided the steam. The boiler is in the brickwork behind. The pumps were once ubiquitous and made by G & J Weir of Cathcart. I am a little surprised I bothered to photograph them. I didn't take a shot of the boiler.
