Cuckooflower or Ladies’ Smock (Cardamine pratensis) has appeared in the uncut grass at Crosshill village’s playpark. It has never been visible here before now but must have been present under the soil, waiting for an opportunity to flower. These grassy areas are not being cut during the Coronavirus restrictions. The flower is associated with the spring arrival of Cuckoos, though these birds haven't been heard here yet.
