This sign on the High Street depicts Maldon's coat of arms. The notice says it was presented to the town by Maldon Town Council in 1992, although how long it remained at this location is not known. The lions signify that Maldon was once a royal borough; the ship recalls its role as a port and the town's ancient duty to provide a ship for the service of King and country whenever required.
