This standing stone set up in the Neolithic or Early Bronze Age (about 3000 - 1500 BC) is traditionally associated with the preaching in the 6th Century of St Beuno to whom the Parish Church at Berriew is dedicated. http://www.earlybritishkingdoms.com/bios/beuno.html The stone is protected as a monument of national importance under the Ancient Monuments Acts.
