This was part of the second stage of electrification of Glasgow suburban services including the Cathcart Circle and the line to Neilston, inaugurated in 1962. The train is a single 3-car set in original condition with blue livery and wrap-round windows to the cab. The station building in the background survives and is Listed Category B.
