Originally the station had two platforms but at some stage after the service was restricted to the Lostwithiel to Fowey section, the second platform was removed. Typically for many of the west of England branch lines, the service was provided by a single car standard BR diesel unit, affectionately known as 'Bubble cars'. The passenger service was withdrawn in 1965, although the line is still open to a quay north of the station site for china clay traffic. The presence of this element of freight is obvious from the white coating of the track.
