The building on Mugdock Road is the former Heatherbank Museum of Social Work, founded here in Milngavie in 1975. Since 2004 the museum has been subsumed into the Glasgow Caledonian University and is part of the university's research collection. It is believed to be the only museum dedicated to social work.
