View taken from a railtour which used a freight only line passing the shed at high level and giving this unique view of the sheds. Steam was giving way to diesel and electric traction, and the Britannia locomotive (unidentifiable) is looking very shabby. In the background there are freight wagons on the famous Edge Hill 'gridiron' which was a large marshalling yard built at a higher level than the main passenger lines. The tall silo is part of the Crawford's biscuit factory.
