The metal plaque on the top reads "THE DIAL STONE FROM THE COLUMN FORMERLY STANDING IN SEVEN DIALS LONDON. THE COLUMN WAS RE-ERECTED ON MONUMENT GREEN IN 1822 AS A MEMORIAL TO THE DUCHESS OF YORK".
