This field was at the rear of Alley House, the house on the right - see https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6431605 . The building on the left is The Woadman's Cottage public house, https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4445519 which is now closed and for sale. The flower cutters are Fred and Dorothy Balls, my maternal grandparents, who grew flowers here for local markets and on another field about a mile away. Between the flower field and the house was a large grass paddock and kennels where Fred trained greyhounds which he raced at Peterborough, Wisbech and The White City in London. My grandfather's favourite party trick was taking out his glass eye and showing it to his grandchildren, he lost his proper eye in a shooting accident when out shooting hares and rabbits. (The day and month are estimated but the year is correct, 1962)
