This is an ancient church, dating back to the 12th century, and is set in the rolling countryside of the Shropshire / Montgomeryshire border country. The church retains some of the stonework and one of the doors but was the subject of a restoration in 1859 which included extensive work and new windows and screen. It has just unergone another restoration with funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
