One of the distinctive features of the Long Gallery is the remarkable patchwork pattern on the ceiling with green through to white, and contrasting black shapes. Any suggestions as to what is growing there would be most welcome. This is the longest single tunnel at 150m on the E Coast and the only one going through basalt only - although I'm not sure whether the underwater floor reaches the underlying conglomerate. This 'subterraneous passage' is passable at most states of the tide, given modest SE swell. The N end is somewhat restricted for larger vessels than kayaks, but should be OK for a small rib or fishing boat.
