The river Wharfe at Ilkley in March

Image: © Stephen Craven Taken: 7 Mar 2020

There had been floods only a couple of weeks before, but comparing Image taken at the same time of year, this would appear to be a normal late winter level. The original roman road north from Ilkley (Olicana) is believed to have crossed the river by a ford about 100m west of the present bridge, i.e. about where a tree stands on a shingle bank now.
