This area was formally part of Wallsend Slipway and Engineering company, which closed in the 1970's. The little boat repair yard here is part of Willington Marina, established in the 1980's where Willington Gut flows into the River Tyne. The structures behind are wind turbine jackets being built at Smulders Hadrian Yard.
