This is the upper valve box at the top of the single 65" cylinder of the Cornish beam engine from 1873. The valve on the right is the governor valve, the middle valve is the steam (inlet) valve and the valve on the left is the equilibrium (transfer) valve. The two vertical rods just beyond are the plug rods that operate the valve gear. Through the arch of the entablature you can see the parallel motion on the pump end of the beam.
