The land is now owned by the National Trust. The building nearest the camera is the drying room and behind it and to the right, the roof of the briefing room can be seen. The dip which can be ascertained in the meadow was where an explosion occurred on October 31st 1942. A month after they arrived, ground crews were unloading a 250lb live bomb from 88 Sqdn Boston ‘W8297’ when it suddenly went off. The resultant explosion destroyed the Boston and killed six members of the ground crew.
