The present house is Grade II listed and was built in Ham Hill stone in 1904-6 by the architect Leonard Aloysius Scott Stokes (1858-1925) known for his designs for Roman Catholic buildings and other country houses. The house standing before had to be pulled down in 1900 as it was riddled with dry rot. Minterne was the property of Winchester College in 1550. In 1642 the estate was leased to the Churchill family for several generations, and then to the Goulds before being bought in 1768 by Admiral Robert Digby. It has remained in the family ever since and is now hired out for weddings, parties and other events.
