Charlton Athletic have played at The Valley since 1919, apart from one year in Catford, during 1923–24, and seven years at Crystal Palace and West Ham United between 1985–1992. The highest ever attendance was 75,000 in 1938. The current capacity is 27,111. The occasion of this match was Charlton Athletic vs Blackburn Rovers in the Championship. It was the once a season match when all tickets were £5 and a full house was expected. This was before the match started when the ground was still filling up.
