The canal is Brindleys Old Main Line from Birmingham to Wolverhampton. It is weaving in and out under the M5 at this point. The contractors are dismantling the scaffolding that was used on the enormous Oldbury Viaduct repair project. Not long before I had walked down that towpath through a veritable forest of scaffolding.
