The new station replaced an earlier one and opened on the 12th July 2016. The new station has four platforms rather than the two of the previous station. Electrification of the line from Barnt Green to Bromsgrove was completed in 2018. This enables electric services from Bromsgrove on the Cross City Line via Birmingham New Street and terminating at Four Oaks, Lichfield City or Lichfield Trent Valley. Currently non-electrified services calling at Bromsgrove go to Hereford via Worcester and to Birmingham. There are some short-workings of these.
