This footpath is shown as part of the Barnsley Boundary Walk on the OS map, but one has to go back to Victorian maps to discover that the path follows the line of the former Ryhill Main Colliery Tramway, which presumably linked the colliery [ahead] with either the local railways or the Barnsley Canal.
