This beautifully restored vehicle is a 1903 built electric autocar. As built, this self-propelled railway carriage was powered by a petrol engine driving a dynamo to turn electric motors coupled to the wheels. The body had been used as a holiday home and has been restored and married to an adapted restored chassis with diesel electric propulsion. We had a ride on this but spent a good hour stuck outside Rothley after some idiots threw a metal fence panel over a bridge and shorted out the track circuit. This indicated a train on line to the signal box and brought everything to a halt.
