Until 1897, the site which is now Wandsworth Park was allotments - see https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=16&lat=51.4631&lon=-0.2053&layers=6&b=1 The park is Grade II listed, reflecting the fact that its design has changed little since it opened in 1903. The park was laid out by Lt. Col. J.J. Sexby, horticulturist and London County Council’s original Superintendent of Parks. This view looks eastwards from near the entrance from Putney. The Thames Path is to the left alongside the river and Wandsworth Bridge can be seen in the distance.
