The yard is named after the King of Prussia pub on the corner of Hallgate. It was owned by the Albion Brewery of Hardybutts, Wigan and closed in 1914. Now it is a fish and chip restaurant called Mr Chips Image The Bricklayers Arms in Hallgate was derelict when Sue Adair photographed it in 2007 Image It had been a Tetley house but still had its sign then. In March 2015 it became the Wigan base for the Brothers of Charity Services http://brothersofcharity.org.uk/lancashire/new-services-in-wigan/ who provide a diverse range of supports to people with complex needs, including flexible day time support and outreach services. However since I photographed it in 2016 Image it appeared to have become empty again by 2018 Image and two years on it is still To Let.
