The transformation of many former industrial brown-field sites along this canal is well on the way with many housing developments. Occasional "heritage" remnants are Grade II listed so are kept as a reminder of the area's industrial past. The large site by Commercial Road (off to the left) has been cleared and is already under development (Lyme Gardens). Some canalside derelict buildings remain, though they don't appear to be "Grade" quality for preservation. This was Elijah Cotton's Nelson Pottery.
