The road from Cambridge at the north end of the town, photographed late on a January morning. Most of the houses in Bridge Street are listed buildings. St Mary the Virgin is a large and stately 15th-century Perpendicular church with a 193ft spire dating from 1831. It is the largest parish church in Essex.
