This colliery was still producing in 1983 and had two Bever Dorling & Co Ltd steam winding engines hard at work. This is the larger of the two engines and was the coal-puller. This was built in 1920 but not brought into use until 1933. The drop valve cylinders were 40" x 7' and the parallel drum was 21' diameter. The elephant tubing is to cool the main bearing, which must have been running warm. The engine was retired in 1986 and preserved as part of a museum project that subsequently failed. The site is still in use as an enterprise park.
