No 659 and its mirror-twin Image were built in the late 19th century to flank the entrance to a small park. In the fairly recent past they have both been subjected to some serious graffiti/vandalism, but much of that has been cleaned up, not the least as they collectively attracted a Grade II listing https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101220210-641-and-659-bristol-road-b29-selly-oak-ward#.XhDgUUf7Tcs & https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1220210 in 1982.
