Notice, Mill Road Cemetery

Image: © Alan Murray-Rust Taken: 26 Dec 2019

Mill Road Cemetery was created as a result of the small churchyards of Cambridge's numerous central parishes becoming full, and was a parochial rather than a civic enterprise. This notice displays how the cemetery is split into plots for each of the participating parishes. The result is that unlike most civic cemeteries of the same period, monuments of similar dates are spread around the cemetery, rather than there being areas where burials of contemporary date are to be found.
