The Brown Bayley Bridge was built in 1993 to provide pedestrian access over the Sheffield & Tinsley Canal to the Don Valley Stadium and surrounding area. The bridge takes its name from the former Brown Bayley Steel Works which, until the decline of the steel industry, had occupied the site where the Don Valley Stadium and Sheffield Arena were subsequently built.
