The flight of steps up to the viaduct’s top were a temporary measure, as a lift and steps have been constructed just beyond these steps (to which there is now no access). The latter have replaced them as a means of access, although the lift is not open for business judging by the red barrier across its entrance). The viaduct is grade II listed structure and was built in 1843 by the South Eastern Railway Company; it was designed by William Cubitt, Chief Engineer of the line https://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101404114-folkestone-harbour-viaduct-and-swing-bridge-folkestone#.WFbTCP5FDcc This was the Image in April 2019.
