I was puzzled by the rough heap of stones here, the largest of which could be glacial in origin. However, consulting the 1880 OS map shows that there was a dwelling here called Ty'n-twll (the house in the dell), a name that makes sense here in this dingle by the stream, which would be a good water supply.
