The Great Northern Railway ran trains from Derby to Burton upon Trent and Stafford (via Uttoxeter). Beyond Egginton Junction, where its own line ended, it used running powers over the North Staffs Railway. Originally a joint station it closed in 1962. Today the extensively altered station building is the HQ of the National Federation of Anglers.
