This was once the manager's house for Littleton gunpowder works. Behind the house is the rest of the site, which preserves many remains of the various buildings of what "by the 18th century was the largest powder producing complex in the south west of England, apparently producing 3500 barrels of gunpowder per day by 1762" https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1019452 . The grade II* listed house, originally C16, is described at https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1158132 . The darker trees on the left are along the B3130, which the lane meets in less than 100 metres.
