At The Ridings. The Ridings is an extensive housing development > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4309694 - https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4309722 to the west of The Street in Poringland. The drive is named after Private William Robert Tubby who served with the 1st Battalion Norfolk Regiment and was killed in action in France/Flanders on 4 September 1916, aged 21. Born in Cawston, he was the son of Philip and Anna Tubby and lived on The Street, Poringland. Private Tubby is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial (Somme) and also on the Poringland war memorial.
