From the website "The name Buckenhill derives from the old English word “bocen” meaning “beech tree hill”. We can date the history of Buckenhill Manor back to about 1285 when William of Bokenhill began farming here. Over its lifetime the house has been a home for Westminster Boys School during the Second World War, the Buckenhill Manor Hotel in the 1930s as well as a much-loved family home."
