The ornate west end of The Twelve Apostles' Church, decorated with images of the 12 apostles. The church was built in 1851-2 for the 2nd Marquess of Salisbury as a chapel of ease in the parish of St Mark's, Hatfield, designed by Thomas Champion, but became redundant in 1976. In 1997 it was purchased by The Twelve Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, which for the previous 7 years had made use of the St Andrew's Church in Cuffley. They extended and renovated it, including significant redecoration and refurnishing. The first service was held on 28 February 1999, and the church was formally consecrated on 1 October 2000. For Geograph contributor John Salmon’s excellent photos of the interior of the building, see https://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=104285813.
