From the junction with Lady Betty Road. Trafford Road is named after Edward Southwell Trafford whose family owned land in the parish of Lakenham. The Traffords are descendants of Anglo-Saxon royalty and are said to have taken their name from the village of Trafford (Greater Manchester) but it has been suggested that the real name of the family is Boehm, after the marriage of a male Boehm to a female Trafford in the 17th century. The Trafford family home is in Wroxham. Their Gothic Revival mausoleum can be seen in St Mary's churchyard.
